your Local A Cappella Choir
Formed in 2003 we are an award winning vocal group based in Hemel Hempstead. Blending the voices of men and women in close unaccompanied harmony, we sing songs from the 1930’s through to present day. We are the proud winners at the Watford Festival in 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2011 as well as at the St Albans Festival of Performing Arts in three earlier years.
So What is A Cappella?
"A Cappella" singing is the oldest form of music. The term refers to unaccompanied (ie. without instruments) choral or individual singing.
Literally it is an Italian phrase meaning 'in the manner of the church' - a byproduct of its liturgical development.
What We Sing
Just A Cappella has a repertoire which includes popular songs of the 20th century, some doo-wop, gospel and some swing and jazz style pieces and is willing to try any style that appeals to its members.
Where We Sing
Rehearsals are at The Village Hall, Leverstock Green, Hemel Hempstead. But we are Happy to consider any location as a performance venue
How We Sing
Just A Cappella is available for both paid and charitable performances. Promoters of events and concerts can review our repertoire, and listen to some sound samples. In the past we’ve performed at fetes, concerts, theatres, shopping centres and some memorable parties.
